Creating and maintaining playlists on multiple music sharing platforms is not precisely time efficient, yet seems to be necessary. Sylo is a music player that brings together your iTunes, YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud libraries, allows you to create playlists using tracks from all resources, and enables you to share them with others. Right off the bat, Sylo prompts you to register for an account free of charge and then automatically scans your iTunes library and makes it available within its user interface. The next step is to authorize the app to work with your SoundCloud and Spotify accounts. As soon as this is taken care of, within the Sylo's main window, you will be able to see all the playlists associated with your accounts. Sylo also integrates a search tool that runs queries on all connected resources but also allows you to sort the results by source (iTunes, SoundCloud, Spotify, or YouTube). Even though you cannot connect to your YouTube account, you can search for and follow specific channels. Sylo can automatically create playlists when you subscribe to a new channel, but also allows you to create them on your own. Note that you can add any track to one of your playlists with simple drag and drop movements.
At the same time, Sylo helps you create circles of friends so you can share your favorite tracks with them. The app integrates a members search tool and allows you to add to the circle's playlist as many tracks as you like, regardless of the source. The Sylo app delivers intuitive controls when it comes to the playback, such as play and pause, jump to the next or previous track, adjust the volume, repeat, or shuffle. You can keep track of the progress and jump to a given moment by using a slider bar and see the associated artwork in a thumbnail.
Bottom line, Sylo brings to that table elementary playback and playlist management capabilities, while the innovation element is represented by the fact that you access online resources without having to switch between different third party apps. At the moment, Sylo can integrate with your Spotify and SoundCloud accounts, can access your iTunes music library, and can search for content on YouTube. However, the service does not include playlist exporting functions, so you cannot backup your data.
