ThunderStorm is a cool GTK theme that can really change up the look of your desktop. Want to give it a try? It’s super simple to install! Just right-click on your desktop and select Change Desktop Background. Then, head over to the first tab labeled Theme.
Now, drag and drop the theme's archive right into the Appearance Preferences window. If everything goes smoothly, you’ll see a nice confirmation message pop up. To activate the theme, just click on it! Easy peasy!
You might be wondering about GNOME. It’s an international project aiming to create a full desktop environment. Basically, it’s like the graphical user interface that sits on top of your operating system, and guess what? It’s all built from free software! This means they focus on making software development tools, picking out apps for your desktop, and managing how applications launch and handle files.
GNOME is part of the GNU Project and works great with different Unix-like operating systems—especially Linux! You can also find it in the Java Desktop System if you’re using Solaris.
The name used to stand for GNU Network Object Model Environment, but that acronym isn’t really in use anymore. The main goal of the GNOME project is to keep things simple and user-friendly so that everything just works without any hassle.
