Description
Tockler
Tockler (formerly known as Backer Timetracker) is a handy tool that helps you keep track of your activities on your Mac. It creates time charts based on the windows you've used and even tracks your idle time. Plus, it gives you a neat list of all the apps you've used and when!
Getting Started with Tockler
When you fire up Tockler for the first time, it should ask for permission to control your Mac. But don’t worry if it doesn't pop up right away; that’s what happened during our tests too! You’ll need to set this up manually so the app can monitor your activity.
Granting Permissions
To do this, just head over to System Preferences, go to Security & Privacy, then find Accessibility. Look for Tockler in the list and check the box next to it. Oh, and make sure you have your admin password handy because you'll need it to make these changes!
Monitoring Your Activities
Once everything’s set up, Tockler will start tracking your windows right away! You’ll be able to see all this info in its main window, but keep in mind that Tockler only logs the titles of the windows you're using.
Time Charts Made Easy
Tockler does a cool job of automatically generating time charts. These show which apps you've been using, what you’re keeping track of, and whether you're online or offline. You can even log work items and pick different colors for each entry – super easy!
Your Activity Summary
If you prefer lists over charts, no problem! Tockler can display your activity in list mode too. This way, you can see exactly when you started or stopped working on something and how much time was spent on each project.
User-Friendly Design
The app is designed to take up your whole screen but don’t sweat it; you can easily toggle its visibility with a little menu at the status bar.
Your Privacy Matters
In a nutshell, Tockler keeps tabs on everything happening on your Mac without invading your privacy. It only logs window titles and app usage along with online/offline status.
No Exporting Feature Yet
A little heads-up: currently, Tockler doesn’t have any exporting or backup options. So if you're looking for long-term historical logging of activities, this might not be ideal for you.
