What is transset-df FOR LINUX?

transset-df FOR LINUX

transset-df is a patched version of xorg's transset, designed to integrate transparency settings smoothly into your window manager. With transset-df, you can easily set and unset transparency levels with just a key press.

Features:

  • Select window by clicking (as transset)

  • Select window by pointing

  • Select by window name or id

  • Force toggle

  • Increase or decrease opacity

For transparent effects to work on X, it's essential to have an X-server with the XComposite extension enabled. transset-df doesn't create transparency itself but sets window properties, which must be supported by the underlying X-server.

To install transset-df on your Linux system, follow these steps:

  1. Download the tar.gz file

  2. Extract the file and navigate to the directory

  3. Run make command

  4. Install the software as a root user

What's New in This Release:

A new option "--actual" has been added to set transparency levels for the currently focused window.
