Tunlookup is a simple and open-source app for macOS that helps you quickly translate any text you put in or have copied on your Mac's clipboard.
To get started, just right-click the app icon. Then click "Open" and confirm by clicking "Open" again when your Mac asks if you're sure you want to open it.
Once you launch Tunlookup, it doesn’t show any fancy user interface. But don’t worry! You can easily bring it up using the keyboard shortcut ⌘ + D. If you've already copied a word or phrase to your clipboard, Tunlookup will automatically grab it for translation.
Now, let's talk about the look of Tunlookup. It's pretty basic compared to other translation apps out there. It has that standard dual-tab layout we’re all familiar with, plus a touch of minimalism that keeps things tidy.
You can make the Tunlookup window bigger by clicking the maximize button next to the Cancel button at the bottom left of the main screen. Want to go full-screen? You can do that too! Just use the semaphore control in the top left corner of the main window.
An interesting feature of Tunlookup is that it lets you hear how a translated word or phrase sounds when spoken by native speakers. This can be super helpful if you're trying to get pronunciation just right!
Even though our tests showed Tunlookup working well, it does have some quirks. The biggest one is that it doesn’t show its main window upon launch, which can be a bit annoying.
Tunlookup is a speedy tool that helps you translate text between almost 100 languages in no time! However, it could really benefit from having a larger text input field to make things even easier for users. If you're looking for an efficient way to translate on your Mac, Tunlookup might just be what you need!
