Are you a Twitch fan but don't know how to spice up your streams? While it does not bring a lot of functionality to the table, Twitch Chat Overlay with Avatars is a damn fun streaming tool that will definitely help attract more attention to the content you share with other users. With a name that explicit there is little one can do to introduce the app. It's simply better to jump straight into discussing the features it has.
The idea behind these avatars is to show chat dialogue in an uncommon way. The funny-looking pixelated characters are more difficult to set up for the streamer than those who follow the content. The program works best with OBS but could actually fit any other streaming program quite well.
You get to edit the background, the size of the window overlay, and the name of your character. You can summon a list of helping command by pressing the "H" key or "L" to input your original information, such as chat name and channel.
The procedure for using this overlay is simple, at least in theory. What you have to do is add the overlay, at least in OBS, as a source. The same would work for the .HTML version, only it has to be selected as browser source. From there, you'll have to configure the overlay size to fit your needs. To activate the overlay, you'll need to get a hold of a OAuth: Token, something that is fairly standard and can be retrieved from the official Twitch site.
The big idea behind this overlay app is how fun it seems when all nine characters roam free on your screen, spewing whatever it is your followers are writing in the chat client. Think about it. There are two specific commands for those joining the chat that allows them to either join the overlay or leave it. It's a great way to interact with your fans and the fact that it can be integrated either as a desktop app or HTML format page is an extra feature that works in the app's advantage.
Twitch Chat Overlay with Avatars seems like a fresh idea for Twitch streaming fans. It's fun and pretty involving, innovative and funny too. The downside is it could be a little difficult to set up for beginners, mostly. Still, good compatibility with OBS and nine interesting characters should be pretty convincing to those looking to bring something new to their streaming table.
