UDI-Magic provides a means to transfer Excel data to Tally with minimal effort. Making use of the Universal Data Interchange (UDI) XML format, it facilitates data migration between an Excel spreadsheet and Tally.ERP 9.

The utmost feature of UDI-Magic is its wizard-based approach. As such, all the configuration steps you need to take are presented to you sequentially, as you press the 'Next' button. However, before moving on any further from the first screen, you should take the time to configure the Tally connection and the conversion options. The application prompts you to provide the correct IP address and port number, while the extra settings allow you to manage duplicates and Tally Masters and configure conversion options.

There are two usage modes in UDI-Magic. You can choose to easily import Excel data into Tally, but there is also a so-called "advanced mode" that comes with support for various other data sources, including MySQL, MS-Access, DBFs, and MS-SQL.

Choosing to import data into Tally directly leads you to a wizard path that helps you configure the Excel template to use. UDI-Magic comes with a pre-designed template for data importing, which is the default option. Alternatively, you can choose to create a custom template by mapping the Excel spreadsheet to one of the pre-defined templates or alter a custom template yourself.

The next step requires you to browse for the XLS file that will be used as a source. UDI-Magic can process the entire folder but, if you want to, you can select a range of rows. Optionally, you can use a separate file for XML tags.

The "advanced mode" enables you to choose one of the aforementioned database types as the source. Then, you must browse for the file containing the SQL statements needed to garb data from the database. Of course, the query can be edited directly from the wizard, if necessary.

The next step is to choose the XML tags file. After that, you can start importing data, monitoring the application's progress at all times.

With UDI-Magic, transferring data from Excel and database applications to Tally becomes a routine task. Thanks to its wizard-based interface, data importing is a piece of cake.
