Despite the unparalleled compatibility of raw text throughout applications, many users may feel the need to underline the importance of certain elements and put an emphasis on particular paragraphs when writing the installation instructions for a more complex piece of software or replying to private messages. One way of easing the transition between the rough sketch of a future webpage’s content and the end result is by employing what is known as the Markdown syntax language, which can be used to its full potential via dedicated programs such as Universal Markup Editor.
Once the security certificate and dependencies are installed, users can sideload the app to summon a clean interface based on Microsoft’s recent iterations of the Fluent Design language, given its UWP roots. In an attempt to speed up the formatting process, the utility includes a series of quick commands within the command ribbon sitting underneath the title bar, which automates actions such as italicizing paragraphs or injecting headers.
In order to quickly check what the rendered result will look like, users can select the “Preview” option from the sidebar menu in the top left corner, while those without experience using Markdown can explore the Syntax Help section for a quick explanation of the basic formatting techniques.
