Laying your eyes on enticing images could ensure some well-deserved rest when working long hours at the computer, and what better way to do that than by looking at your desktop?

VDESKTOP is a software utility that takes the whole thing to another level, letting you replace traditional wallpapers with videos you can play on your desktop without putting too much effort in the process.

Being a tool that requires no installation, even though it does need .NET Framework in order to work, VDESKTOP is a program oriented towards ease of use. You simply need to double-click its executable in order to open the application and select the video you want to be prompted with.

It is important to point out that the app can create an animated wallpaper not only from local videos but also using a YouTube video as a starting point.

But let’s take one thing at a time. If you prefer to use your own media to enhance your desktop, you need to copy your videos in the program’s folder, then update your playlist using the dedicated button. This, however, could be a bit inconvenient, and a button letting you expand your playlist would have been more practical.

Aside from that, in terms of supported file formats, only MP4 and WMV clips are covered, which restricts users’ options.

Nevertheless, the program does compensate for that by offering another feature many users would love. Specifically, it lets you stream YouTube videos on your desktop at a mouse click. For that, you just need to indicate the URL and check your playlist.

As for available configurations, you may want to know that the program can automatically play the next video in the list after a user-specified interval, you can schedule when the current clip should stop playing, adjust desktop icons transparency, and last but not least, select the YouTube streaming resolution.

On an ending note, while the program could use some improvements here and there, it is easy to interact with and ran seamlessly during our tests, and any user interested in a solution of this kind could take it for a spin.
