Description

VNC Central

VNC Central is a cool program that makes managing a bunch of remote computers super easy. You can launch apps between them without any fuss! For instance, if you have a local VNC viewer, you can connect it to a remote computer running VNC Central. Or the other way around—you can set up a remote VNC server to connect back to your viewer. This helps tackle most firewall and router issues.

More Than Just VNC

But here’s the neat part: VNC Central isn’t just for VNC server or client stuff. You can use it with any application you want! Want to run an FTP client to connect to a remote server? No problem! Just make sure your app accepts remote IPs as command line parameters, and you’re good to go.

User-Friendly Interface

The interface of VNC Central is pretty straightforward. There’s a main list box showing all the connected computers. To launch an app on one of them, just right-click on that computer and select what you need. Plus, it has automatic Dynamic DNS updates—so if you’re connecting your VNC Central to a PC without a static IP, setting up Dynamic DNS will solve the problem.

Versatile Uses

You can use VNC Central for many purposes since it supports various applications accepting command line parameters. Here are some examples:

  • Track connected customers: Take control of their computers whenever you need to run maintenance programs like defragging across multiple machines at once.

  • Bypass firewalls: Set up a network where different VNC Centrals link together flexibly. You could even connect one acting as a server to another also acting as a server—just avoid creating closed connection loops!

A quick note: when I say “connection loops,” I mean that you shouldn’t connect a single VNC Central, which links to more than one other in the same network setup—it can get messy! But don’t worry; future versions might fix this issue!
