What is Where FOR MAC?

Where

Where is a super handy desktop tool for doing a Whois lookup. It gives you basic info about any domain or IP address, plus it shows you where that location is on a map. The best part? It's really easy to use and has a clean, simple design that won't confuse you.

Easy to Navigate Interface

You'll see just how simple Where is as soon as you open it up for the first time. Most of the screen is taken up by an interactive world map, thanks to Apple Mapkit. There's also a title bar at the top with a space for you to type in your domain or IP address and a button that opens the OS X share menu.

Quick Lookup Process

To get started, just type or paste the web address or IP you want to check and hit Enter. The app will zoom into that location on the map, drop a marker there, and show you some useful details right away.

Details You Can See

Once the map focuses on your spot, you'll find info like city, country, latitude, longitude, IP address, ISP (Internet Service Provider), ASN (Autonomous System Number), and even web server details in the bottom left corner of the interface.

Sharing Info Made Simple

You can easily share this info using various apps through the standard OS X share menu. However, it would be nice if there was an easier way to export this data because currently, you can't just copy it straight to your clipboard.

No Browser Needed!

Where, as expected, doesn't give you as much info as some online services do. But hey! The big plus here is that you don't need to open up a web browser at all.

A Wish for More Convenience

I wish Where could be integrated into your menu bar too! That would make getting information about domains super quick with just a couple of clicks without being in your way.
