Since there is a computer in nearly any domain of activity or business environment, security is of great importance. These can become inaccessible either due to malicious apps or malfunctioning drives, so it's best to make a backup or keep them secured. With this in mind, you might want to know that Wincry is a small utility you can use to keep encrypted and password protected copies of confidential documents and important files.
All features are stored in a pretty compact window which is more than enough for what can be accomplished. Content is kept safe inside virtual containers you create and must keep track of in order to be able to access target files again. Luckily, they can easily be stored on Flash drives.
Once a container is created, you can start importing files you want to protect by simply dragging them over the main window. There's no restriction to either the number of files or size that can be imported. These are all enlisted in a tree view you can customize with folders for better management.
The selection process shouldn't take more than a few minutes, depending on the number of files you want to secure. At the press of a button, the container is sealed shut according to a strong encryption algorithm you can slightly configure from the options menu. However, don't expect a great deal of customization, because you can only choose from a fast, stronger, or super safe deepest encryption.
Before actually locking the container, you are also required to provide a master password that you need to remember. For even greater safety, the application lets you enable a password recovery solution in case you forget it, or have original files permanently deleted from your computer.
You are free to create more containers to better sort out files. Unfortunately, there isn't a general list that displays them all and you have to access the options menu each time you want to open another. What's more, only one container can be accessed at a time, making it a little difficult to transfer files from one to another.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Wincry might not be the best of its kind when it comes to file security, but it does manage to provide a certain level. It's easy enough to use by beginners and experts alike, coming in handy for computers that are used by more individuals.
