Windows 7 Aero Activator is an easy-to-use software program that forcefully enables the Aero Glass effect on Windows 7, even it doesn't meet the WDDM (Windows Driver Display Model) system requirements.

Windows 7 Home Basic users should know they can resort to this program too while keeping in mind that it cannot activate transparency features (unsupported in Windows 7 Home Basic), but only the taskbar thumbnails and other Aero effects.

If you already have the Aero feature enabled, the developer advises against using this application to avoid any events that would lead to unpleasant compatibility issues.

Since there is no setup pack involved, you can save the portable tool in any part of the hard disk or even on a removable storage unit, in order to seamlessly launch it on any computer to enabled Aero.

It's wrapped in a plain and simple interface made from a small window that shows the system requirements: DirectX 9.0 Acceleration, WDDM-compatible driver, 128MB of graphics memory, and 32-bit pixel support.

All you have to do is click the only button available to enable the Aero effect. However, changes are not immediately applied to the machine, since a restart is necessary. Lastly, you should know that the utility doesn't integrate an option for disabling the Aero feature once it becomes active.

The software tool worked smoothly in our tests, without triggering the operating system to hang, crash or prompt error messages. Unsurprisingly, it had minimal impact on the overall performance of the machine, running on low CPU and RAM.
