Whether we like it or not, we all need to make an effort to protect our privacy in many personal and work-related situations. Although working in your office is one way to do that, sometimes colleagues may approach you when you are working on a confidential project.

Instead of frantically closing windows and muting applications, there is a much simpler way to go around this, while looking professional at the same time. Windows Shortcut Privacy-HotKey is a lightweight application that allows you to minimize and mute everything with a click of a button.

The application doesn’t require installation, so you just download and launch it. I could access the tool from System Tray, and I disliked the fact that it doesn’t have any sort of interface. On the other hand, it’s not a big setback, giving the nature and role of the tool. To toggle it on and off, I just pressed F8.

Just as expected, the app uses a color code to indicate whether it’s active or not. More precisely, the green icon indicates the hotkey is active, whereas the red icon means the script is suspended. Of course, you can also do this manually, if you prefer.

There are many situations when you may need to clear your desktop to protect the data that you’re working on, both in the office environment as well as at home. For instance, a colleague may enter your office when you’re working on a confidential document.

To quickly safeguard the privacy of your project, you can use Windows Shortcut Privacy-HotKey by pressing the F8 key. The action instantly minimizes all open windows and mutes any playback sound, ensuring that your confidential project remains hidden from prying eyes.
