The Windows Vault or Credentials Manager is a built-in tool that handles the storing of authentication credentials, much like a normal password manager would. The main difference is that device credentials are also stored there, which typically includes network-related data, among other things.
There’s a chance that most casual users don’t even know the tool exists in the first place, but that doesn’t make it any less relevant. Either way, if you wish to retrieve your Vault or Credential Manager data, then a program like XenArmor Windows Vault Password Recovery Pro should be worth trying.
Scrambling to find a password you can’t quite remember is not a good time, and it’s usually best to exhaust all the available options before giving up. A tool such as this one might even be a saving grace of sorts: after all, even the slightest clue as to what a password could be is better than nothing.
That very much applies to the Free version, which will only preview the first 2 characters of the retrieved passwords, so a clue is indeed all you’ll get as a non-paying user. Though admittedly creative, this kind of limitation can be frustrating to work with for some, which is why it’s advised to purchase the full version to access the entire toolset.
The program is able to not only retrieve passwords from your local computer, but also from external drives. Clicking the Recover Passwords button will let you select the drive you wish to work with — either internal or external — and enter the selected username’s password.
After that, the software will begin looking for your passwords. This shouldn’t take long, but your mileage may vary. If you wish to export all the retrieved data as a Free user, the program will send you to its Buy page to access that functionality.
XenArmor Windows Vault Password Recovery Pro is an interesting piece of software that is capable of recovering your Windows Vault passwords in a swift manner. Its Free tier limitations may be a little difficult to deal with, but the Full version should nevertheless be up to the task.
