WinHide

WinHide isn't really that hard to understand when you think about its name. It's a simplistic application that runs with the help of CMD aiming to give users the simple ability to hide and unhide certain windows that are open on the screen of a machine. It's that simple. The program itself won't really win you over unless you do find your desktop to be a bit too crowded by the number of open windows and apps.

While the app itself is as basic as they get, one does need a bit of CMD expertise to run it properly. There are two possible commands. The first one is the hide option which is represented by the "-h" command. The second is the show action and is recognized by the system as "-s". Following either of these command strings should be the name displayed in any of the app windows you have opened on your screen. Once submitted, the commands will immediately bring the effect into action.

The most important question when thinking about such tools is what their use is. With WinHide it should technically be easier to organize your desktop space. In other words, hiding certain windows you do not use should lead to a cleaner desktop and a more suitable environment for increasing your productivity. This is what one could achieve with this app. Of course, it could be great prank material as well, but that's really trying to extend its usability through one's imagination.

The bottom line with this app is that it can only be effective if your desktop is a mess or close to being one. Otherwise, there's no point in having things hidden on-screen. The app itself doesn't need to be installed and can be discarded very easily once it has fulfilled its duty.
