X-DivXRepair

X-DivXRepair is a software utility based on VirtualDub, which can help individuals repair all kind of AVIs, by cutting off the bad parts and reassembling the files.

You are not required to install this tool on your computer, as it is the portable version of DivXRepair. You can easily use it on any computer you have access to, by simply dropping the program files on a portable storage unit (e.g. USB flash drive) and double-clicking the executable.

In addition to that, it is important to keep in mind the fact that X-DivXRepair is not going to update with new entries the Windows registry and Start menu/screen.

The interface presents a minimalistic design, which can be used very easily by all types of people, including the non-experienced ones. All you have to do in order to start the repair process is upload a corrupted file by clicking the “Add file” button and the “Repair files” one.

A small drawback here is represented by the fact that the application does not support the “drag and drop” function, as it could have enhanced usability. Moreover, batch processing is not integrated.

All uploaded files are going to be displayed in the main window as a list, along with the file path. During repairs, the CPU and memory usage are quite significant, so it might put a strain on your computer’s performance. When this process is done, a report is going to be generated and opened in Notepad, displaying details such as name, total frames and status.

In conclusion, X-DivXRepair is a pretty decent software application when it comes to repairing corrupted AVIs. The results are not always good, as sometimes, it does not cut off the broken parts or it fails to process the video altogether.
