X-GanttProject

This is a portable version of GanttProject, a Java-based application developed to help users create various projects using Gantt charts.

Since installation is not a requirement, you can drop the program files to any location on the hard disk and just click the EXE file to run.

It is also possible to save X-GanttProject to a portable device like a USB flash drive, in order to run it on any computer with Java installed.

What's worth taking into account is that the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, and no extra files are created on the HDD without the user's consent.

The interface has a clean aspect, without clutter. You can create as many tasks as you want and edit properties when it comes to the start and end date, duration, additional constraint, priority and progress, as well as add links and change the shape and colors.

It is possible to attach predecessors, resources and custom columns. Resources can be imported. They they contain general information, such as name, phone and email address, a range for days off, and custom columns.

X-GanttProject generates Gantt charts for inputted data and lets you select colors for resources (normal, overload and underload) and days off. These are just some of the features available through this software application.

It shouldn't put a strain on computer performance, since X-GanttProject runs on low CPU and RAM. We have not come across any problems in our evaluation, as the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Unfortunately, there is no help file available.

X-GanttProject comes packed with some useful options for creating projects and generating Gantt charts, but less experienced users may take a while to figure them out.
