X-Geany

Designed as the portable edition of Geany, this is a comprehensive text editor and IDE. It comes loaded with several handy options and configuration parameters.

Since there is no setup pack involved, you can extract the program files anywhere on the disk and just click the executable to launch Geany. Otherwise, you can save it to a removable storage unit to directly run it on any PC effortlessly. It doesn't change Windows registry settings.

The GUI is user-friendly, represented by a large window with a neatly organized structure. It supports multiple tabs, so you can work with multiple projects at the same time.

Syntax highlighting is supported, so you can easily spot blocks of code. It's possible to insert the current date, comments and alternative white space, resort to a basic search function, enter fulscreen mode, toggle additional widgets, as well as zoom in and out.

Geany lets you activate line wrapping, breaking, automatic indentation and read-only mode, select the indent type, width, file type, encoding and line endings, skip trailing space, remove markers and error indicators, as well as set build commands and make objects or custom targets. The software application provides you with a color chooser, word counter and plugin manager too.

No error dialogs were shown in our tests and the tool didn't hang or crash. The app had a good response time and minimal impact on computer performance, using low CPU and RAM.
