XFILES

When dealing with files that contain patient information, it is often necessary to hide names or other data when using them for various purposes or transferring them. Removing this information manually can take some time, which is why a specialized utility may be of interest.

XFILES is a desktop application designed to modify sensitive keywords in FCS files in order to remove patient information so as to preserve patient confidentiality. It has no special software requirements and can be used after a brief installation process.

After launching the program, you will need to browse to the location of the FCS file you wish to process. You can double-click the file to view more information about it. The default keyword should work in most situations, but you can replace it with a different one if necessary.

When everything has been configured properly, you can click the “Start X-ing” button to begin removing patient IDs from the processed files. The program is designed to help maintain patient confidentiality when dealing with data files collected using BD software.

It is worth noting that some instructions are also provided to help first-time users. They can be viewed in the main application window by just clicking the “Instructions” button.
