You can get notifications from YakYak right on your Mac’s desktop or via the Dock icon. But if those alerts get too distracting, you can turn them off. Just a heads up though—you can't pick just one type of alert; it’s all or nothing!
When it comes to managing your contacts, it's a bit limited. You can only put some of them in your favorites list; there aren't any fancy sorting options available.
You can use YakYak to talk with your existing friends, invite new ones, and even create group chats! Plus, attaching images is as easy as dragging and dropping them right into the chat.
Just a little reminder: while YakYak covers basic chatting needs well, it doesn’t support video calls or SMS messages. So for those features, you still need to open up Google Hangouts in your web browser.
Overall, YakYak does a good job as an OS X app that acts like a desktop client for Google Hangouts. It gives you quick access to chats without messing around in a browser. While it could use some extra features and polish here and there, it's still an easy way to stay connected with friends!
