The first time you open the app, you’ll be greeted by a wizard. This little guide walks you through setting up your connection and login info for updating your hostname. It’s pretty straightforward, so don’t worry if you’re not tech-savvy!

Selecting Your Connection Type

One cool thing about DynDNS Updater is that it works with different connection types. If you're using xDSL with PPPoE, just pick the Dial-up option. If you're on a Local Area Network (LAN), choose that instead. Plus, if you need to use a proxy server, you can easily enter the port number along with your username and password.

Detecting Your IP Address

Once everything is set up, the app will find your IP address automatically! It also helps group all your hostnames together if they share the same login info and system. This keeps things organized.

Settings Made Easy

You can access the Settings window through a right-click menu. Here’s where you can add new groups or tweak existing ones. Want to customize how it connects? You can do that too! You can even enable or disable logging features and set actions for after updates are completed.

Using External Resources

If you're behind a LAN, DynDNS Updater uses external resources to figure out your public IP address. Head over to the ‘IP Address’ tab to set this up. You can stick with the default settings, which work well for most users, or get into manual configuration if that's more your style.
