What is EISPICE?

EISPICE

EISPICE is a cool application that's like a clone of the Berkley SPICE 3 Simulation Engine. It started out focusing on PCB level Signal Integrity Simulation. This means it helps simulate devices defined by IBIS models, transmission lines, and passive terminations. But guess what? It's been growing! Now it includes more general features for circuit simulation too.

Speedy Performance with C

The brains behind EISPICE are written in C, and it uses the SuperLU matrix library to solve MNA Matrices. What does that mean for you? Well, it should run faster than Berkley Spice for most IBIS-based SI simulations. Just a heads up: comparing them directly can be tricky since Berkley Spice doesn’t support IBIS models directly.

Device Models Galore

EISPICE comes packed with a subset of standard spice3 device models. The goal is to eventually be fully compliant with all the models from the basic spice3f5 release. Plus, it’s got some unique models of its own! You’ll find direct IBIS model support, Python-based Behavioral models, non-linear capacitors, and more!

Plotting Made Easy

If you're into visuals, EISPICE has got you covered with a simple plot utility. But if you want something fancier, you can use your favorite Python Plotting tool too!
