Elyse is a cool tag-based file manager that helps you organize, sort, and catalog your files. It's packed with neat options and settings that make managing your documents super easy.
Setting up Elyse is a breeze! After a quick installation, it prompts you to create a new database where you can store all the files and folders you want to keep track of.
The best part? Elyse automatically tags your files based on their directory names. If it finds any duplicate files or names, it skips them. But if there are duplicates with different content, it gives you the option to decide what to do next!
The main window of the app is designed nicely and clearly shows a browsing tree for all your files—tagged or not—plus any recent additions. You won’t have trouble finding what you're looking for!
You can easily create new tags by entering names and descriptions. Elyse also has features that let you find missing files, pull them from specific spots, and link tags to those files.
You can manage tag groups too! Want to skip duplicate management? No problem! You can also set how many thumbnails to cache and limit auto-tagging to specific folder levels.
During our tests, we didn’t run into any stability problems. Elyse runs smoothly without crashing or showing error messages. It creates tags quickly while using minimal CPU and RAM resources.
Now, I will say this tool isn’t super intuitive at first. But once you get the hang of it, you'll see how uniquely effective Elyse is in managing your files with automatic tagging! Plus, it's free for non-commercial use! Want to give it a try? Download Elyse here!
