Encrypt PDF Command Line is a super handy and powerful tool for protecting your PDFs. With this software, you can easily encrypt your existing PDF files using either 40-bit or 128-bit encryption, which works great with Acrobat Reader versions 5.0 and up. You can also set permissions and add both user and owner passwords to keep your documents safe.
For example, if you want to make sure no one can print your PDF, you can easily do that! When someone opens the file in Acrobat Reader, the print button will be disabled. Plus, you can encrypt a PDF so that only someone who knows the correct password can read it.
Just a heads-up: the original PDF needs to be unencrypted before you start adding security. If everything is set right, you'll see a little key icon in the bottom status bar of Acrobat Reader when it's encrypted.
