Faltron Port Scanner is a free and open-source app made in Java that helps you scan your computer or any other device on your local network to find open ports. This tool can be super handy for spotting weak areas that might let malware sneak in and mess up your system.
If you have Java installed, you're all set! You won’t need to install anything extra. Just download the files, put them where you want on your PC, or save them to a USB drive. This way, you can easily run Faltron Port Scanner on any machine that has Java.
This software won’t mess with your Windows registry or create any files without asking you first. Plus, for those who like coding, the source code is included in the package!
The interface? It’s pretty straightforward! You’ll see a simple window with all the options laid out nicely. The program supports multiple threads too! You can choose whether you want it to focus on speed or resource use by setting its priority to low, medium, or high.
Once you enter the host name or IP address of another device on your LAN, just set the port range by entering a starting and ending point. With just one click, you can kick off the scanner! And if it’s taking too long or if you're feeling impatient, you can stop it anytime.
The program will show all the open ports it finds right in the main window. While there aren’t buttons for printing or saving this info directly to a file, you can select and copy it using a keyboard shortcut. There’s no context menu available here either.
If you want to restart a scan, no problem—just clear the results and start over! Even though Faltron Port Scanner doesn't have tons of features, it's practical for checking out open ports on your computer or other LAN devices. Our tests showed that it uses minimal CPU and RAM.
