Getting FS Utilities up and running is a breeze! The setup is quick, and you won't hit any snags. When you first open it, the window might look a bit busy if you're not used to similar software, but don't worry! You can start using it right away by dragging and dropping the files or folders you want to index.
The cool part about FS Utilities is how it lets you access files and folders separately from two different tabs. You can see important details like the name, extension, parent folder length, and how many items are in each folder. Plus, you'll get info like size, creation date, last modified date, access date, attributes, full path—basically everything!
The top of the window has a space where you can do quick text searches. Just keep in mind that this doesn't filter out results that don't match. Instead of cutting down the list of items shown to just what fits your search perfectly, FS Utilities highlights what matches in the index. So yeah, scrolling through a long list can feel tedious sometimes.
You've got some extra view modes too! There's topmost and append options available for viewing your files differently. If you right-click on any file you've selected, you can quickly launch it in its related app or even find its location in Windows Explorer. Other options let you copy it to your clipboard or rename/delete it easily.
We ran our tests on Windows 10 without running into any compatibility problems!
