What is igafem?

igafem

igafem is a fantastic tool that's making waves in the engineering world. Even though we've seen some cool advances in shape optimization, there's still a bit of a hiccup: finite elements often work separately, and getting them to communicate can be super tricky and expensive. This is where isogeometric analysis comes into play! It helps engineers cut down on costs while also making it easier to define boundaries with precision.

What is Isogeometric Analysis?

So, what exactly does isogeometric analysis mean? It's all about blending finite element analysis with traditional NURBS-based CAD design tools. And the best part? It saves engineers loads of time and effort. Instead of going back and forth between design and analysis phases, everything gets streamlined!

Features of igafem

This awesome Matlab package has a bunch of features that make it super handy for tackling structural mechanics problems. You can work on things like Euler beams and Kirchoff plates without worrying about rotations. Plus, it supports T Splines from Rhino 3D, GeoPDEs, and even has tools for 2D XIGA when dealing with traction-free cracks or material interfaces.

Enhanced Analysis Methods

The igafem package also gives you access to some pretty neat methods like IGA based on Bezier extraction (both 2D and 3D). You can use penalty methods, Lagrange multipliers, or least squares methods for Dirichlet boundary conditions.

Transient Dynamics Analysis

If you're into dynamic analysis, you'll love the transient dynamics features here too! It includes implicit Newmark methods as well as an explicit central difference scheme to help you get your results faster.
