ModelPie is a cool, lightweight interface designed for ModelTest and MrModelTest. It's built using Python and wxPython, and the best part? It’s open-source! You can easily grab it for free. Whether you're on Windows, Linux, or MAC OS X, you can download it without any hassle.
To get ModelPie up and running smoothly, you’ll need to have Python 2.4 or a newer version installed. Plus, don’t forget to grab wxPython version 2.8.X or higher on your computer.
You have the option to run PAUP for ModelTest likelihood calculations or use it with MrModelTest. Just keep in mind that if you're using PAUP, make sure there’s no PAUP block in your file—it could lead to some issues. If you choose ModelTest, feel free to use BIC calculations too!
While your model is being analyzed, you'll see a handy dialog box pop up showing a progress bar that keeps you updated on what's happening. And guess what? You can save the score files generated by PAUP! If you already have your score files ready to go, just hit the ‘Mr/ModelTest’ button, pick your file, and check out the results right in the main textbox.
A little heads-up: ModelPie can't be distributed alongside PAUP, ModelTest, or MrModelTest. You'll need to create links for those programs instead. To get everything working in the GUI for ModelTest and MrModelTest areas, make sure you set the paths correctly to those applications.
