Graphic card issues are not a thing of the past, at least not yet, but now they tend to become more rare and not as cumbersome as with older video cards. In the case of some NVIDIA devices, there was a glitch that prevented users to apply refresh rates higher than 60 Hz in the Direct 3D and OpenGL modes. A dedicated application to help eliminate this problem was developed independently. It is called nVidia Refresh Rate Fix MKII and addresses the aforementioned bug on supported systems. The program scans automatically the system it is running on and displays some basic information concerning the installed driver and gives an estimate on the outcome of using the fix.
Since the problem has long been fixed through an update of NVIDIA Detonator, most users would consider this utility obsolete. However, if there are still some old video cards running on some systems on which the update was not performed yet, it is most likely that the refresh bug may occur. For those special cases, nVidia Refresh Rate Fix MKII still remains the only answer.
