What is RT60 Calculator?

RT60 Calculator

RT60 Calculator is a cool tool built with Python. It helps you use the Sabine formula to find out how long sound takes to fade in a room based on its setup. The calculator uses a list of materials suggested by the SAE Institute, which makes it super handy for sound engineers and architects.

Easy to Use and Portable

You can easily keep RT60 Calculator on a USB flash drive. That means you can run it directly on any computer without needing to install anything! When you're done, uninstalling it is just as easy—just delete the files!

User-Friendly Interface

The user interface is pretty straightforward. It lets you set up different aspects related to the materials used in your room's walls and ceilings. There's no manual included, so you'll want to play around with its features to see how everything works.

Customizable Measurements

With RT60 Calculator, you can pick your measurement unit—meters or feet—and enter the width, height, and depth of your space. This flexibility makes it easier for you to get precise readings!

Selecting Construction Materials

You can choose construction materials for all sides of the room: left, right, front, back, ceiling, and floor. Options include things like Plasterboard, Brickwork, Curtains, Concrete, Mineral wool, and Glass. Each material comes with its own frequency details!

Additional Features for Windows and Doors

The app also allows you to set parameters for windows and doors along with other reflective surfaces. Plus, you can input their sizes and quantities for more accurate calculations.

Graphical Output of Reverberation Time

Basing its calculations on your inputs, RT60 Calculator generates graphs showing reverberation risk at low, medium, and high frequencies. You’ll also see a visual representation of reverberation time using Sabine's formula along with Norris Eyring and Fitzroy parameters.

No Export Options Available

A downside is that there are no options for exporting your results right now. But overall, RT60 Calculator packs some neat features that help you calculate and visualize reverberation times across different frequencies!
