Screen Translator is a super handy tool that mixes translation with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology. This means you can quickly translate any text right from your screen, no matter where it is! How cool is that?
When you have Screen Translator running in your system tray, translating text is a breeze. Just hit your chosen key combination to grab a screenshot of the area you want to translate. You can easily select the area by dragging and dropping – it’s really simple!
This tool uses Tesseract's OCR engine, which helps it recognize and read the text you've selected. Once you highlight the text, it instantly shows the translation in either a small popup right under the original text or as a notification in your system tray. You can choose what works best for you!
If you want to use the translated text elsewhere, there’s another key combo that lets you send it straight to your clipboard for easy pasting in other apps. Want to make that popup go away? Just click on it! And if you accidentally close it, no big deal! You can quickly repeat the last translation with another shortcut.
Now, here’s something to keep in mind: Screen Translator relies on Google Translate and supports lots of different languages. However, Tesseract only understands English as the source language. So while it's great for translating into other languages, you'll need English text to get started.
This tool saves you from having to visit online services just to find translations for words or phrases. Whether you're a translator or someone trying to learn a new language on your own, Screen Translator can really help out!
