Why Was Set Default View Created?

This tool came about because of an old issue in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000. Back then, it could only create and open presentations in normal view, which was pretty limiting. So, this add-in was made to give users more flexibility.

How to Install Set Default View

The whole thing is packed into a single .ppa file. Just double-click it to load Set Default View in PowerPoint right away! If you're using the latest version of PowerPoint, you'll see a prompt asking if you want to enable macro support. This is because PowerPoint sees the add-in as a potential security issue, so make sure to click yes! You won’t want to miss out on the benefits.

Selecting Your Preferred View

Once it's up and running, head over to the Add-ins tab on the ribbon bar. Look for the Toolbar Commands section, and there you'll find a menu next to 'Default'. Click that and choose your favorite default view from options like Slide, Notes page, Outline, and many others—including Print Preview!

No Extra Steps Needed!

You don’t need to click any buttons after selecting your view because changes apply automatically! To test it out, just open a new document and see if it worked.
