ShareAlarm is a handy little software that helps you keep an eye on your shared folders. It sends you notifications every time someone tries to access them from a remote computer. The best part? It works for everyone, no matter how tech-savvy you are!
You don’t even have to install it! Just grab the executable file and drop it anywhere on your hard drive to start using it. Want to take it on the go? No problem! You can save ShareAlarm onto a USB flash drive or any removable device and use it on any computer without any hassle.
One cool feature is that ShareAlarm doesn’t mess with your Windows Registry. When you’re done with it, just delete the file and you're good to go—no leftover files hanging around!
The interface of ShareAlarm is straightforward. You’ll see a well-organized layout where you can check out the name, username, path, and operating system for each workstation trying to sneak a peek at your shared folders.
You can even pick a WAV or MP3 file from your computer to use as a sound alert. Test out the alarm whenever you want and stop it easily if needed. Plus, there’s an option to block access from certain workstations through a handy context menu, allowing you to create a blacklist or close sessions.
This software barely uses up CPU or system memory, which means your computer will still run smoothly while using it. We’ve found that it responds quickly without causing any slowdowns or annoying error messages during our tests.
The only downside we noticed is that ShareAlarm hasn’t been updated in quite some time, so it might not work with newer operating systems. But overall, it's super easy for anyone—even those who aren’t very experienced with computers—to handle!
