SPTerm is a super handy app that helps you scan your computer for available COM ports. You can easily choose settings like stop bits, baud rate, parity, and bits before connecting to the port. Once you're connected, any data that comes in will show up in the ASCII box, while the Hex values will appear in the Hex box.
There's a cool checkbox for Clear to Send and Data Set Ready, which shows the status of two important pins. If the checkbox is checked, it means high on the pin; if it's unchecked, it's low. You can send data through a text box in the send group using either ASCII or Hex format. When you check Request to Send and Data Terminal Ready, it sends a high signal to each pin one at a time.
The Serial Port Terminal (SPTerm) is great for basic communication over serial ports (COM). You can easily send bytes and ASCII from your PC with SPTerm.
This tool is especially useful for microcontroller projects dealing with UART and simple data transmission. Plus, you can directly send Hex data right from the text box in SPTerm!
