VSWR Mismatch Calculator is a super useful tool that helps you handle VSWR data easily. If you're working with RF devices like amplifiers, sources, and power meters, you've probably come across VSWR in their specs.
So, what’s the deal with VSWR? At lower VSWR values, the plus and minus are pretty close together. But as the values get higher, they start to drift apart. That’s when you really need to calculate both sides to get accurate results.
Let’s take a look at an example. Imagine you’re using an Agilent ESG-3000 microwave source set to 900 MHz. Its VSWR is noted as 1.4 to 1. Now say you're measuring the output power with an Agilent E4412A power sensor that has a specified VSWR of 1.15 to 1. By plugging these numbers into the VSWR Calc program, you'll see all your calculations pop up on the screen!
The cool part? The "Copy to Clipboard" feature lets you grab all those VSWR values and calculated data so you can easily document everything in any Windows app you want. (Just so you know, good old cardboard slide rules can’t do this!) In our example, the uncertainty comes out to +0.100 to -0.102 dB.
It’s essential to be aware of measurement uncertainty because high frequencies can lead to uncertain measurements if your VSWRs aren’t controlled or known well enough.
