WinLog is a handy software application that captures syslog messages from various network devices like routers, managed switches, and hosts. It takes these unmodified messages and logs them into a file, making them easy to read. You can even filter through these messages based on different criteria—super useful for keeping track of everything!
One cool thing about WinLog is that it can also act as a log reader and filter for raw syslog log files that it generates itself. Its strong filtering capabilities let you sift through messages using different criteria like date/time, priority, facility, severity, source of the message, and event mask.
But wait, there’s more! It provides a live event log to syslog converter service called NTsyslog for Windows NT/2000/XP/2003. This means you can monitor Windows events via the syslog protocol with ease.
If you want to keep an eye on all your Windows servers from one place where WinLog is installed, you'll need to install the NTsyslog service separately on each server. Don't worry! You can easily download the setup for NTsyslog from our download/demo section. Plus, NTsyslog is free software distributed under GNU GPL, so feel free to use it however you like!
The only downside? There's a 30-day trial period. But hey, that's plenty of time to see how awesome WinLog really is!
