Zippo, which you might remember as Zipper, is a super handy software program designed to help you pack your files and folders into ZIP archives. It even lets you add some extra security with password protection and has several ways to compress your files.
The interface is pretty minimalistic. You get a small window, some buttons, drop-down menus, and a pane that shows all the items you've uploaded. There aren’t any help guides, but you'll find it's easy enough for both pros and beginners to use.
As I mentioned earlier, Zippo offers a couple of compression methods like “Deflate” and “BZip2.” The cool part? The Deflate method has nine different levels! This means you can choose between packing your stuff quickly or taking more time for better compression.
You can also pick from various encoding types using the drop-down menu. Plus, when it comes to encryption algorithms, you've got choices like “PKZip,” “WinZipAES128,” or “WinZipAES256.” And entering your password is just a few clicks away!
If you want to add comments to your archives or adjust the buffering settings (this part is really for advanced users), that's possible too! You can even select from a long list of output extensions like ZIP, CHM, EXE, Z01, etc.
Another neat feature is being able to change a simple ZIP file into a split or self-extracting one. Just keep in mind that the drag-and-drop feature isn’t available; you'll have to upload everything through the file browser.
The app runs smoothly without hogging up too many resources. We found that it responds well and didn’t crash or freeze during our tests—always a plus!
In short, Zippo is an awesome tool for creating ZIP archives from your files and folders. With plenty of useful features packed in there, it's definitely worth checking out!
