5FM Radio Stream Player is a cool little widget you can add to your desktop. It gives you quick access to the 5FM radio station, which is based in South Africa. Setting it up is super easy!
The widget has a simple interface that looks like a small window. You can move it around on your screen just by using your mouse. It's really user-friendly!
Once you open the widget, the audio stream starts playing right away. If you want to stop it, you can easily do that too. Plus, there's an option to open a webpage that takes you straight to the radio station's homepage.
If you right-click on the widget, you'll see an option for Widget Preferences. Here, you can choose between the sponsored stream or the original 5FM stream. But keep in mind, this player doesn't have many extra settings. For example, there’s no way to adjust the volume directly within the widget.
The Yahoo! Widget Engine, which is what this player uses, does offer some basic features. You can set it to stay on top of other windows or let it ignore mouse clicks so it doesn’t get moved around accidentally. Also, you can change how see-through it is with opacity settings from 20% all the way up to 100%!
This widget doesn't use up much CPU or RAM at all, which means it's smooth sailing while you're listening! It responds quickly and won't cause your computer to freeze or crash.
Unfortunately, since the Yahoo! Widget Engine project has been discontinued, we won't be seeing any new updates for 5FM Radio Stream Player in the future. But for now, it's still a great little tool for streaming your favorite South African radio station!
