Alagus Printer Installer

Designed to make the lives of system administrators a tad bit easier, Alagus Printer Installer is a streamlined and very lightweight piece of software that, as its name partially states, allows you to install as well as to uninstall printers on your local area network.

You can get started with this application in mere seconds, as it does not any particular prerequisites or any type of installation, for that matter. Simply download the app, unzip its package and run it via its executable file.

Upon launching the utility, you are welcome by a non-impressive and outdated user interface. Despite its looks and since the overall layout is very well-organized, you should be able to get to grips with this app without much hassle.

Before anything else, please note that in order to complete remote printer installations on any LAN computer, you need to have full administrator rights.

Most of the application's features can be easily accessed from the typical menu bar and the useful toolbar, both located in the upper part of the main window. There are other, three essential UI elements that need to be pointed out, namely the Printer Server and Target Computer panels, as well as the Log panel.

We are going to focus more on the former two panels, as they represent the actual workspace of the app. From the left-sided Print Server panel, you can view the structure of your LAN and, by browsing your workgroups, you select and install the desired printers.

The Target Computer panel from the other side is somewhat similar with the mention that it allows you to see all the computers in any given workgroup. Equivalently, you can mark the computers on which you want to remote install or uninstall printers.

Before we conclude, we would also like to point out that the application provides you with the possibility to save the printer's settings and restore them whenever you need to later on.

Although it has been with us for quite a while now and even though later versions of Windows offer comprehensive options for managing printers, Alagus Printer Installer can be considered a very handy application even by today's standards.
