Text documents are found under various formats, each one aiming to provide more comfort, flexibility and accessibility. Amongst the most popular you find PDFs, which are a professional approach on storing and viewing documents, thanks to its peculiar manner and powerful security. You need dedicated apps to view a PDF, with All-In-One PDF Lite being amongst choices on the market.

After a short and uneventful setup process you are free to run it and see whether or not it's packed with potential. The first time you launch it, a small prompt enables you to make it your default PDF reader, but it can be ignored since the option can later on be toggled from the main window.

The visual design is pretty simple, with most space dedicated to feedback and an upper toolbar letting you quickly access controls and navigation options. Files can be loaded either through the dedicated file explorer or simply dragging them over the main window. An even faster method is to actually make it your default PDF reader, which resumes the opening task to a couple of mouse clicks.

Just like you'd normally handle a PDF in any other application of its type, view options provide a great deal of comfort. If your document is rich in content, you can choose to have it displayed one page at a time, facing, continuous and continuous facing. Pages can be rotated for even more flexibility.

Returning to the default style is easily done through zoom controls. These let you fit the page to width, keep the original size or zoom in and out for a clearer view. There's even a search option to quickly find content of interest, as well as a few “Go to” options for more variety.

There aren't any editing options whatsoever, not even the possibility to select text. This cuts off some practicality, because words found with the search option are highlighted, but you are unable to copy them at least to the clipboard. You can save the file, but the only output is still PDF and since nothing can be changed it completely lacks purpose, not even keeping rotation options.

Bottom line is that All-In-One PDF Lite is not really what the name suggests. On the other hand, it can be used as a simple viewer, with minimum impact on system resources, a straightforward design that focuses on visual feedback, thus letting anyone get the hang of it in a matter of seconds. We would really appreciate at least an option to select text, but since the application stopped receiving updates, it's hard to believe improvements come in any time soon.
