AMD Fusion for Gaming was a brand new utility from AMD that only addressed a particular segment of the community and that was the owners of the Spider platform.
This awkwardly entitled platform relies on AMD’s 7-series motherboards with Asus M4A79T Deluxe, MSI 790FX-GD70, Gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P or DFI LANParty DK 790FXB-M3H5 models being the flagships of it.
For AMD enthusiasts, these mainboards have always made the hairs on their backs go up since 2009, when the 790FX chipset was officially presented.
Thus, if you had the cash and you only wanted to spend it on AMD processor, motherboard and graphics card, then you’d probably go with one of the aforementioned MBs, a top of the range CPU (Phenom 9950 Black Edition, most likely) alongside a 4870 / 4890 Radeon graphics card (why not the X2 version).
This would have definitely made a killer rig in any gamer’s books and authorize them with bragging rights. Although experienced users may already set up overclocking for most of the components connected to the motherboard and squeeze every drop of performance from their PC, intermediate and even novice users would certainly go with an all-round application.
AMD Fusion for Gaming is that type of software and its over-the-top simplistic GUI makes it a breeze to use. As long as you accessed the advanced interface and selected your default profile, all you have to do is press a single button in the simplified UI and you’re all set to go.
The built-in profiles include basic, advanced and expert settings, with the default one set to basic. You can test everyone of them, but make sure that your computer case is well-ventilated and keep an eye on temperatures aided by a specialized software before enabling each and everyone of them.
What AMD Fusion for Gaming does is overclock your system as a whole and even closes unwanted programs and services down in order to prioritize the flow of software and hardware power to the application that actually needs it the most.
AMD Fusion for Gaming helps your rig gain various amounts of speed, thus performing better, from little difference such as 1 or 2% to higher values like 10 to 15%. Although this may seem unrealistic to some users, tests have acknowledged a jump of 1000 3DMarks in 3DMark 06 when the AMD Fusion for Gaming utility was running in expert mode.
