Application Blocker

In order to better focus on work or prevent unauthorized access to certain files, a neat solution is to completely restrict access. This is easily done with the help of specialized software, such as Application Blocker. It is a straightforward utility that locks down an executable file, making it of no further use.

Running the application brings up a pretty compact and modern interface. It's equipped with all available features in order to quickly get you up and running.

Functionality is not an issue, because it only takes up a small amount of space on your hard disk drive, and uses little of your system's resources. It does not even need to run in order to keep its core function active.

Adding items to the block list is only done through the dedicated option, with no possibility to simply drag desired executable files over the main window. Once the list is populated with applications you want to cut access to, you can close the main window, with no further settings that need to be adjusted.

Nor are there any other available settings, besides the possibility to trigger the reverse process. When doing so, take caution because you might unlock all applications if no element is selected from the list, and once hitting “UnBlock” elements are removed.

Security is an issue, because there is no integrated option to set a password in order to gain access to the option that unblocks applications. Nor can you schedule the process to be triggered between specific periods of time.

Application Blocker gets the job done well, but available features leave a little something to be desired. If used for personal reasons, you need a strong personality so that you don't simply regain access to applications that prevent focusing at work, otherwise you must hide the executable because anyone can lift restrictions.
