Application Position & Size (APS)

When resizing and repositioning opened windows on your desktop, you surely are dragging out their corners to the approximate size and moving them around to where you want them to be. However, if you need more accuracy in such endeavors, then Application Position & Size or, in short, APS, can be of help.   What this application does is to allow you to change the size of any opened window and its position with increased precision, as it features options to set both coordinates and a window’s dimensions.

You start by clicking on the target symbol and dragging and dropping it to the window you want to resize or reposition. Clicking on “GET” instructs the application to retrieve the current position and size of the target window, allowing you to view it. While the position is given by the left and top coordinates, the size is calculated based on the width and height of the window. The current position and size can be stored for future reference.

The “SET” command allows you to change the current location and the dimensions of the target window. All the changes are instantly visible. In other words, you will notice how the window is automatically resized or re-positioned on the screen as soon as you release the target.

Aside from custom values for a window’s position on the desktop, Application Position & Size also comes with a series of predefined coordinates to help you move a window faster. For instance, you can place any window in the center of the screen, as there is a preconfigured location already set up within the application. The same goes for the four screen corners, the two screen sides (left and right), the upper center and the lower center.

There is another mode available in Application Position & Size that allows you to set the position and the size of an opened window. Colored arrows are displayed to help you move a window a pixel at a time, either up, down, left, right or diagonally.

Similarly, arrows are available for resizing a window, a colored set for each corner and each side of a square window. You are free to configure the jumping step, which gives you high precision.

Application Position & Size comes in handy for changing the position and size of any opened window. While it might not seem so friendly at first launch, it is easy to get accustomed to. You can use it to set the size of any opened app exactly as you wish and change its current position on the screen without dragging and dropping it.
