Working with written papers in an office or at home may involve creating copies in digital format and this is usually done with the help of dedicated hardware devices like document scanners, which, in turn, can be of different types and from a variety of manufacturers.

Those who own an Avision device created specifically for such purposes have at their disposal a utility that goes by the name of AVScan and is designed for acquiring images from supported connected devices.

Once the installation procedure is finished successfully, users will be able to start the application immediately and get to know it. The main window seems a bit outdated in terms of looks, but practicality is evidently the main focus, so the lack of appeal may be excused to some extent.

The workspace is quite generous and can accommodate up to 8 images in the same time, while also providing all the necessary functions for acquiring and handling input from a connected scanner.

AVScan is very well equipped at least in one area, namely the image processing commands it comes with. Thus, it is possible to apply filters and enhancements like noise removal, deskewing or clear black edging fro the dedicated menu of the application.

Features like adjusting the contrast and brightness, splitting or merging images, cropping and even barcode detection are also included. To help users share content or deliver the scans to those who need them, an FTP uploader is present as well.

Handling several files at once is a breeze for and it can even split or merge batches of images, thanks to the special functions it has. There are some page viewing and zooming options that will help in fitting the selected pictures to the position required by the user.

On the whole, this program seems to be well provided for taking care of a variety of tasks which involve scanned images. From editing to enhancing the files and with support for quick uploads, AVScan is indeed an appropriate solution for those who have to work with Avision scanner devices.
