Made as the portable counterpart of BabelMap, this is a handy software utility that lets you navigate a character map to view and copy all Unicode characters, in order to apply them into various projects.
It comprises a resourceful skill set, such as a search function for characters, color-coding method by taking into account various criteria, along with a snapshot grabber to export glyphs to local image files.
Portability comes with multiple advantages. For example, you can extract the program files to any part of the hard drive and just click the executable to run BabelMap. You can also copy it to a pen drive or other removable storage unit to launch it on any computer directly. Moreover, it does not integrate new entries into the Windows registry.
The interface is represented by a large window that shows a character map, so you can navigate it and select any character. They are automatically added to a buffer dialog and you can edit the sequence.
No error messages popped up in our testing, and the utility did not hang or crash. It has a good response time to commands and minimal impact on computer performance, thanks to the fact that it runs on a low quantity of CPU and RAM.
Taking everything into account, BabelMap has a surprisingly rich set of features for exploring, copying, and handling Unicode characters, backed by comprehensive options and configuration settings.
