Barcode4J is a free Java-based tool that lets you create both one-dimensional and two-dimensional barcodes. You can save these barcodes in various formats like SVG, EPS, PNG, and JPEG images. Plus, you can also save them as AWT (Java2D) and text files. The best part? You can print them out or use them in different software projects!
When it comes to one-dimensional barcodes, Barcode4J has your back! It supports a bunch of types including Interleaved 2 of 5, EAN-128, GS1-128 (which is based on Code 128), POSTNET, ITF-14, Codabar, and Royal Mail Customer Barcode (Four State). You'll also find options for Code 39, UPC-A and UPC-E (with supplementals), Code 128, EAN-13, and EAN-8 (with supplementals). Not to forget USPS Intelligent Mail (4-State Customer Barcode).
If you're looking to make two-dimensional barcodes, Barcode4J doesn't disappoint! It can generate PDF 417 (ISO/IEC 15438:2001 - E), QR Codes (ISO/IEC 18004:2006 - E) which requires ZXing support, and DataMatrix (ISO/IEC 16022:2000 - E) barcodes.
This tool includes a servlet that supports output files in SVG, EPS, PNG, and JPEG formats. There's also a command-line interface for those who love working from the terminal. And if you're using Apache Xalan or SAXON XSLT Processor? No worries! There are plugins available that help generate SVGs.
The package you download comes with several examples showing off all the supported barcode symbologies. You'll even find some handy PDF and web app examples to guide you along.
