The Batman Arkham Asylum game is featuring another original Batman story written by Paul Dini, and puts the hero face to face with some of the most terrifying Gotham criminals.

Since the action takes place on Arkham Island, the mental hospital where all the insane Gotham villains go to serve time, the overall atmosphere is quite spooky.

The game’s events are put in motion by Joker, who lures Batman onto the island and manages to trap him inside while he tries to detonate bombs around Gotham city.

As Batman, you must explore the asylum and fight all the scary criminals you incarcerated in order to reach your archenemy and put a stop to his evil plans.

To successfully complete your mission, you get to use a plethora of weapons and gadgets, but also your stealth and the advanced fighting skills.

Some of the most notable gadgets are the remote control Batarang, a grappling gun, an explosive gel or the FreeFlow combat system.

At the same time, you get to use the Detective mode to manage to identify the enemies weak spots or objects important to your quest.

During play, you get to learn a lot about all the villains you put in jail, but you will also have to face your own fears: you will hallucinate thanks to Scarecrow’s toxic gas. Of course, the creepy psychiatric hospital setting adds to the tension.

To conclude, Batman Arkham Asylum is an entertaining, action packed adventure game in which you get to defeat some of the most challenging Gotham law offenders. What’s more, you can even play as the evil, yet entertaining Joker.
