Most media nowadays, movies and songs, is found on various websites. You can quickly access them using a web browser, while also gathering info you might need for your projects. However, with the help of applications such as BrowseTube you can access YouTube directly from the desktop.

Running the application inevitably brings up the main window equipped with all available features, as well as YouTube at your disposal. The interface gets you quickly up and running, because all previous experience needed is surfing on the mentioned media website.

Speed at which content loads only depends on the type of Internet connection you use. Little system resources need to be allocated in order for it to properly run.

Other than features mentioned above, the application offers you little more. Like most web browsers, you are able to open multiple tabs in order to create a playlist faster than you would on YouTube.

However, once the application is closed, all content is lost. There is no integrated history tracker that lets you easily browse through previously accessed content. Moreover, you must put your YouTube account to good use, because of the lack of a favorites manager to store frequently played media.

Minimizing the application only brings it to the taskbar and would have been useful for it to hide in the system tray. There is no implemented hotkey support, thus making it less practical, having to interrupt work in case you are using the application for music.

BrowseTube intends to change the way you make use of YouTube. However, it feels a little rough around the edges with several missing advanced features keeping it from being a pro. Its usability only stretches as far as entertainment is concerned, but does not prove too practical for long term use.
