BTest is a handy little tool that comes in super useful if you're sharing a MikroTik router with others or if you're the network admin. It's all about finding those pesky bottlenecks in your LAN and fixing them up.
So, what exactly does BTest do? It helps you figure out the maximum amount of traffic that can flow through your router, whether it's wired or wireless. This is important for spotting any issues that could slow down your data transfer.
This utility lets you run bandwidth tests using both TCP and UDP protocols. Just a heads up: the results from TCP tests don’t always give you a clear picture because they don’t show details on data size and usage in the throughput log. So, if you want more accurate info about how well your connection performs, go for the UDP tests instead.
You can easily choose the direction of traffic during testing, like upload or download speeds, as well as what packages to send and receive. That way, you get to see exactly how your network handles different types of data.
One thing to note is that BTest only uses one CPU core while running its tests. And here’s something else: it’s designed to push your bandwidth to its limits! This means while BTest is running its checks, you might not have access to the internet. So plan accordingly!
